New Community-Based Homeless Shelter Opens
DreamTree Project and several partner organizations opens a new shelter at 601 Lovato Place this month (Nov 30th) under the acronym NEST: Navigating Emergency Support Together. The shelter will initially only accommodate overnight stays, but will expand hours once renovations are complete.
Although the shelter was operational part of last winter, this month it will reopen as a year-round space for people struggling with housing insecurity. Guests will be able to check in nightly by 8 p.m. The shelter holds up to 40 people and includes a men's dorm, women's dorm and private dorm for the gender expansive. Families with children are eligible for a hotel voucher program.
