DreamTree 2022 Winter Newsletter

Join us in making a difference! Our annual report highlights not only our achievements, but also our commitment to corporate social responsibility. We invite you to be a part of our new workplace giving campaign, where employees can contribute a small portion of their paycheck to support causes they care about. Together, we can amplify our impact and create positive change in the Taos community. Learn more about how you can get involved and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. *For corporations interested in establishing workplace giving programs, we invite you to reach out to us at giving@dreamtreeproject.org to explore collaboration opportunities.

“In February, a previous resident of the shelter joined DreamTree’s Transitional Living Program. He was so excited to move into our casitas, and within days completely decorated and settled in. In the short time he has been in the program, he obtained employment at Albertson’s, as well as a summer crew position with Rocky Mountain Youth Corps. In conjunction with obtaining employment, he is also set to begin High School Equivalency courses. The youth expressed that he chose to apply to our Transitional Living Program because he felt the most supported and positive when he was at DreamTree’s emergency youth shelter in the past.”

I’m excited to share that in 2022 DreamTree Project officially expanded our mission beyond serving youth to include unhoused adults and families. We’ve offered some housing support for adults since 2017; during the height of the pandemic and through summer 2022, we provided crisis housing for adults and families. We learned how many people in Taos County need crisis services and learned about what does—and doesn’t—work best. This led us to team up with other agencies in Taos to create Taos NEST: Navigating Emergency Support Together. Taos NEST will be located at 601 Lovato Pl, which was previously the senior center. DreamTree is renovating the building this fall. Starting in winter 2023, NEST will provide streamlined access to resources for anyone experiencing a crisis and will provide emergency crisis shelter to adults.
